 End Of July Catch-Up

Heeey!

Remember my last blog about Diablo IV? Well, it totally consumed my life since then.

I made several more characters last season, just playing in the standard eternal option, but since this latest season (Season 9) started, I've gone absolutely nuts. The Horadric Nightmare Dungeons are really fun... I've been playing multiplayer with the same friend I was playing as Callampa and CQF with, and I've been running a Flamethrower/Hydra Sorceress named Fernou. I really wanted to make a character to use the cool Full Bloom hair with because I love how the dualtone colors look on it--- The base is teal with sort of gray/white highlights at the tips, and I had a lot of fun finally playing a Sorceress so I could actually go fashion mode, lol. I'm actually only level 30 in multiplayer, though! We haven't played too too much multiplayer together yet.

I've been mostly playing solo on my new seasonal Necromancer Sangua--- A more traditionally styled, red themed necromancer compared to Callampa's sickly green and yellow tones. She's got the cool hair that covers one eye (not the undercut) in bright red, and scary black and red and bronze-ish armor with that one chestplate transmog (the name escapes me) that's basically the whole emaciated chest exposed with three leather covers over the boobs and rest of the chest. I'm running a typical Skeleton Mage build with the Ring of Mendlin (I've yet to get the Hand of Naz or Blood Moon Breeches) and having fun destroying everything on Torment II, though I haven't made the jump to tiers of The Pit above 30--- I get through the actual Pit itself with ease, but then when it comes time to fight the boss I end up spending like 10 sweaty, sweaty minutes trying desperately to win after the timer's already up. It sucks ass and isn't fun, to put it bluntly.

But, I'm already Paragon ~120 (), so obviously I've been having fun doing other stuff, lol. I want to get the little scary chihuahua pet, Dante, in the seasonal rewards, but I doubt I'll be able to get to that tier of rewards. I do feel like I've hit a wall in improving my character--- I have no idea how people manage to get up to tier IV without trading items in a marketplace, which I'm definitely not doing. I really dislike the forced multiplayer/MMO aspects of this entry to the series.

Aside from Diablo, I've been playing a lot of Sensei! I like you so much! which is a Steam title in Early Access (I know--- but seems so promising I had to take a chance on buying it early). I talked a bit more about it on this page, where I uploaded the files for some of the ships I've been using to play it.

I've done my furthest run using Bodoque and Tulio, and let me tell you, it is fucking hilarious to see them not only in a little anime/donghua chibi style, but also in a universe where 31 Minutos is a large enough media franchise to have taken over the fangirl otaku market of goods and have a massive enough shipping-based following to cause IRL arguments over ships between these donghua/anime girls in the visual novel segments. I fucking love this game, it's so cracked. Any game in which my player character can ---against my, the player's will--- write a fanfic about Tulio and Bodoque where Tulio is somehow Bodoque's new stepmom and they have intense non/dubcon sex about it is a win in my book. Seriously, the internal fanfic templates are balls to the wall insane and I couldn't be happier--- The player character is a freak and I love her for it. Truly an accurate representation of fandom.

Aside from that, I've gotten infected with fucking strangles or something and gotten sucked into playing Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

...Yes, I know, the silly horsegirl racing game... I admit I scoffed at the concept when I first heard about the anime back in 2018 or so, and I was shocked when it suddenly got so popular this year after the game's release over here... You have to understand, my friend and mutual was posting about it and the game's free on Steam! I thought it couldn't hurt to just try it out, just play the tutorial, just as a joke, really, and, well... Now it's also on my phone...* I definitely ship McQueen/Gold Ship, Pasa/Grass, and Vodka/Scarlet, so the power of yuri got me again...

It's honestly kind of shocking because I have a fear of horses IRL and I really dislike them... I think they're kind of too strong and big to be as dumb and easily frightened as they are... They could get startled by anything and then accidentally kill a guy or snap your spine in half...! It's not that I'm some kind of city-boy with a lack of exposure, either--- I've been places where there's horses plenty of times, I live in an area with plenty of farms and even equine police units... Actually... Maybe the mounted police division doesn't help my dislike of horses... (Don't get me started, I'll complain about it for hours)

Is anime horse girls really how I get over this phobia? I hope not, that's pretty dumb...

I'll probably end up watching the anime at some point, but for now I'm sticking to just the game. I made the mistake of trying to train Gold Ship first since she's my favorite, and failed horribly when she refused to train, got injured from a 9% failure chance when she finally would train again, and then got injured again during the summer training event. After that I switched to Sakura Bakushin O (BAKUSHIN BAKUSHIN BAKUSHIN!!! ), the easiest uma to train ever, and ended up going all the way to the end of the campaign, but placing a bitter-sweet 2nd in the URA finals. I was satisfied enough in my inchou after all our training together, but still slightly disappointed.

Oh, and in other news, I've even been writing a little bit!

...Not ...Not on anything I actually want to be working on though. That Ghosts fic I've been meaning to finish all year is still stuck at the climax (heh), and I've been mostly writing for a fandom that I will not be posting anywhere and will solely be contained to Discord conversations with fujin of equal power levels... But I did do a bit more work on a Criminal Minds Hotch/Reid fic! It's a short thing that's a series of vignettes about Reid writing Kirk/Spock fic and how it kind of "coincidentally" connects to his own life and situation vis a vis work and Hotch. I like that canon gives me the ability to play with Reid being a trekker*. It's great.

So, yeah! I've been mostly doing activities that let me rest my brain a bit--- as I mentioned in my last post, my RL is kind of weird lately and probably will be for a while. Expect continued sporadic updates to this site and even more sporadic blog posts.
